History
Cleveland sits in Northeast corner of Ohio on the southern shore of Lake Erie, along the Cuyahoga River. The city was founded in 1796 and became a major manufacturing center. John D. Rockefeller, the founder of Standard Oil, made a majority of his fortune in Cleveland, which brought the city to become the fifth largest in the country. The Terminal Tower, located in the heart of downtown Cleveland, was once one of the world’s tallest buildings. Dedicated in 1930, the building was part of a skyscraper boom in the 1920’s and 1930’s.
