Fallingwater

Fallingwater is located in southwestern Pennsylvania, fifty miles southeast of Pittsburg. The building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the world’s most prominent and influential architects. Completed in 1939, the building is most famously known for its positioning partly over an active waterfall in Bear Run, Pennsylvania.

The structure was originally designed for Edgar Kaufmann Sr., founder of the Kaufmann’s Department store. The building was shortly after restored because of arising structural problems, and now serves as a museum, dedicated in 1964.

Today Fallingwater offers several in-depth tours through the structure accompanied by their knowledgeable tour staff. Throughout the tour, visitors can learn the history behind the building along with how it was designed to stand up above an active waterfall.
